Dr. Jennifer Davis Alexander

Holistic Skin Scientist & Maternal Wellness Expert

Making history as the nation’s second Black scientist to earn a PhD in Cosmetic Science, Dr. Alexander bridges holistic wellness, Black maternal health, and skin health education—emphasizing the skin’s critical role as our largest organ and a reflection of overall health.  She is a fierce advocate for maternal health equity and advancing skin research that addresses the unique needs of Black skin.

 

Dr. Alexander earned a B.S. in Chemistry from N.C. A&T State University (Aggie Pride!) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a concentration in Cosmetic Science, from the University of Cincinnati.  She is certified in several holistic healing modalities including Face Yoga, Meditation and Reiki.

 

Dr. Alexander has held R&D leadership positions in the health and wellness space and designed products for major brands including Covergirl, Iams, and Gillette. She is published in peer-reviewed journals and has been featured in leading media outlets including Essence, Forbes, Bustle, Well + Good, and Today’s Parent.

 

Dr. Alexander is a mom of 3, mentor and a member of a host of organizations including Black Women for Wellness, Cosmetic Executive Women and Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated.  She enjoys traveling, collecting healing crystals, spending time in nature and relaxing with a cup of organic herbal tea.

Biography

Dr. Jennifer Davis Alexander is a Holistic Skin Scientist and Skin Wellness Expert.  She is the 2nd African American, in the US, to earn a Ph.D. in Cosmetic Science.  Dr. Alexander is passionate about holistic wellness, Black maternal health and skin health education, emphasizing the critical role of skin as our largest organ and a reflection of overall health.  She is an advocate for Black inclusion in product testing and committed to advancing skin research that addresses the unique needs of Black skin.

Dr. Alexander has a B.S. in Chemistry from N.C. A&T State University (Aggie Pride!) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a concentration in Cosmetic Science, from the University of Cincinnati.  She is certified in several holistic healing modalities including Face Yoga, Meditation, Reiki (Reiki Master) and Chakra Balancing.   

 

Dr. Alexander has in-depth Clinical Research experience with Sensitive Skin and Dermatitis and a breadth of Product Innovation experience including product design, consumer insights and formulation science. She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, appeared on Good Morning Washington and contributed to a host of media outlets including Essence, CNN, Forbes, Well + Good and Today’s Parent.  Dr. Alexander has held various R&D leadership positions in the health and wellness space and developed products for household brands including Covergirl, Iams, Gillette and Coca-Cola.

Dr. Alexander is a member of a host of organizations including Black Women for Wellness, Cosmetic Executive Women, The Links, Incorporated and Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. 

 

Dr. Alexander is a wife and mom of 3.  She enjoys traveling, weight training, collecting healing crystals, spending time in nature and relaxing with a cup of organic herbal tea.
